Uche Ignites Straightforward Palace Win at Irish Side Shelbourne.

Even though entering their maiden continental campaign, Crystal Palace are adapting at a rapid pace. Missing star players like forward Jean-Philippe Mateta and defender Daniel Muñoz, the London club departed Dublin with a comfortable win that virtually guarantees them a place in the Conference League qualifying rounds.

A further victory in their upcoming match against Finland's KuPS should be enough to seal straight passage to the last 16, particularly after a prior stumble against Strasbourg.

Fringe Players Seize the Opportunity

This occasion provided a platform for several Palace's lesser-used players to shine. Christantus Uche, in only his second beginning since joining on loan from Getafe, notched the scoring with a well-taken finish. Striker Eddie Nketiah contributed a second, finding the net for the second game in succession.

The Shelbourne side that had finished their league season were no match against a mostly second-string Palace outfit. The Londoners were further weakened by the reports that Mateta and Muñoz are out with leg injuries.

Control Asserted from the Start

In spite of torrential rain in Dublin, Palace rapidly took control. A flowing move in the 11th minute, sparked by Daichi Kamada's clever pass, allowed Nketiah to set up Uche for a straightforward tap-in.

Midfielder Adam Wharton came close soon after, driving a long-range shot over the bar. Nketiah subsequently appealed for a penalty after racing into the area, but the official dismissed the appeals.

Ex-Arsenal man didn't need to wait long to get his goal, tapping home from a yard out after Uche's effort had hit the post.

The home side were hanging on desperately. Defender Kameron Ledwidge was fortunate to avoid a booking for two agricultural challenges on Yeremy Pino, before Chris Richards rattled the woodwork with a powerful header from a corner.

Pino Seals the Game

The contest was as good as over eight minutes from half-time. Yeremy Pino weaved past some comically weak challenges before coolly slotting a shot past keeper Wessel Speel to make it 3-0.

Following the break, coach Oliver Glasner seized the opportunity to withdraw key players like Kamada and Wharton. Substitute Romain Esse came close to scoring with his very first touch, only to see his shot blocked.

The youngster was desperately unlucky later on, seeing one attempt strike off each posts before being gathered on the line. Uche also missed a glaring chance, showing there is still room for development in his game.

The only concern for Palace was a second-half injury to Justin Devenny, who limped off. This allowed 17-year-old striker Benji Casey to make his first-team debut, capping an otherwise positive night for the traveling side.
