Two-time heavyweight champion Joshua Discharged from Medical Facility in Nigeria Following Fatal Road Accident

Former heavyweight champion Anthony Joshua has left the medical facility, officials in Lagos announced on late Wednesday. The athlete was involved in a car accident near Lagos on December 29th, a tragic incident that resulted in the deaths of two of his close associates.

Under Observation for Minor Injuries

The boxer had been receiving medical attention while healing from his light wounds, his management team stated earlier on Monday. A government official, Gbenga Omotoso, announced via a post on social media that Joshua was judged healthy enough to “recuperate at home”.

“The boxer and his mother were at the funeral home in Lagos this afternoon to pay their final respects to his two departed friends as they were being readied to be sent home,” the commissioner stated.

Remembering the Victims

The two men who died were identified as Latif Ayodele, a fitness coach, and Sina Ghami, a performance coach. It was also noted that the athlete was heartbroken and overcome with emotion over the passing of his two dear friends.”

The news of his discharge comes as the boxing community offered sympathy for the fighter in the following the devastating accident.
