This event resulted in the temporary shutdown of the main airport tunnel and the Terminal 3 car park.

Two individuals are now facing charges related to a luggage theft where a substance thought to be irritant spray caused injuries at the UK's busiest airport.

Tyrone Richards, 31, and Anton Clarke-Butcher, 24, now face two counts of robbery and two counts of deploying a toxic agent, authorities have stated.

The charges follow an investigation into an assault at the parking structure at Terminal 3 on the weekend. Before the assault occurred, two women were robbed of their suitcases taken after exiting a car park lift, according to law enforcement.

A toddler was one of the people hurt during the incident. Five people required hospital care and were subsequently released.

This event – described by police as was isolated and not considered a terror-related act – resulted in train delays and the partial closure of the main airport road tunnel and the T3 parking area for a brief period.
