From the very beginning of the fourth campaign, new Dungeon Master Brennan Lee Mulligan has kept fans guessing with deep backstory, a wide array of characters, and a thrilling plot including divine entities, evil spirits, and sinister influences expanding in influence within the city.
Warning: Key plot points for the third episode of Campaign 4 lie ahead.
The Combat-Oriented Party Unveiled
The third episode concluded with a dramatic pause and presented the first table of heroes who will split off from the main group to embark on their separate journey, separate from the remaining groups.
The combat-focused team features Teor (brought to life by Travis), the agile character (Laura), Tyranny (Whitney), the cleric (the player), and the mysterious adventurer (the actor).
Dividing the Cast
Considering an extensive roster, it was evident from the start that having everyone at the same party would be unworkable.
That’s why, the first four episodes of Campaign 4 serve as an Prelude, intertwining the characters’ stories before splitting into three smaller tables: Fighters, Schemers, and Seekers.
Characteristics of the Soldiers Table
Per Brennan Lee Mulligan, the warrior group is for players who enjoy a traditionally charged fight-heavy gameplay experience where peaceful solutions are scarce.
At first glance, figures such as the hesitant healer the cleric might appear mismatched, but the actions of the third episode show why these specific adventurers are ideally matched for the combat party.
Why They Must Go
First, the group has a clear idea where to proceed after a violent initial meeting with the enemy group.
An old friend of Thjazi Fang—whose death kicked off the narrative’s action—used The Crow Keepers for his selfish purposes, invading Thjazi’s hideout, attacking Thimble, and stealing all the enchanted items to sell off.
Casimir then settled his debts and fled to a fortified location in the remote area, above Dol-Makjar, with Cyd Pridesire close behind.
Character Drivers
Moreover, each member has a specific drive to leave the city the metropolitan area:
- The agile hero, as the close ally and trusted friend, desires revenge.
- The knowledgeable figure has experience in Timmony and warns that it is a hostile place.
- The warrior and Wicander, having defied his family’s wishes to kill the target and instead freed him, have no safe haven.
- However, their reputation as prominent individuals in the powerful family could help the team reach locations they normally couldn’t.
- Moreover, Teor pledged a eternal obligation to The savior for his salvation and will now go with him anywhere.
Pursued by Authorities
In addition, all of them are sought by the powers that govern Dol-Makjar for a range of causes, making staying in the city dangerous:
- The agile adventurer and The character are notorious outlaws.
- The strong figure and The healer turned against House Halovar and the army of fiends they are aligned with.
- The target is marked for death by House Halovar.
This results in them few options but to head to the remote area in quest for Casimir.
Upcoming Developments
Based on the recent installment’s post-show segment, we find out that the warrior group won’t be around the following episode, leaving the rest of the players to assemble the Questers and Planners parties.
Viewers can look forward to discovering which players will be assigned to which table in the story’s concluding setup installment, available to watch on the upcoming Thursday.
