Iran Reports Assault on American Facility in Bahrain, During Widespread Retaliatory Strikes.
Iran's military claims to have hit a US naval base in Bahrain, as the country executed missile attacks throughout the Middle East in response for a significant and ongoing assault against it by the United States and Israeli forces.
Huge plumes of black smoke were seen rising from an zone in the area of the main base of the US Navy's Fifth Fleet in Manama, Bahrain. The scope of any impact is not yet known and the United States has yet to issue a statement.
Missile Defenses Activated
Elsewhere across the region, the UAE, Qatar and Kuwait - each hosting American military installations - stated they have intercepted missiles in their airspace.
In Doha, Qatar's defence ministry announced it had intercepted several missiles apparently targeting the Al Udeid Air Base, the largest American base in the Middle East.
Operation "Truthful Promise 4"
The Iranian Revolutionary Guard stated it was targeting American facilities and interests as part of military campaign "Truthful Promise 4", in response for the attack on Iran launched by the US and Israel on Saturday morning.
That initial attack - launched at approximately 09:15 Iran time - has so far focused on areas associated with the the regime, with President Trump urging the people of Iran to rise up against the leadership.
Wider Impacts
In the State of Israel, air raid sirens sounded across the country after the Israel Defense Forces reported it had detected an incoming Iranian missile barrage.
The Ministry of Defence of the United Arab Emirates announced that the country has been subjected to a "a blatant attack involving Iranian ballistic missiles".
"Emirati air defenses dealt with the projectiles with great effectiveness and destroyed a series of missiles," the statement continued.
It said debris fell on a neighborhood in Abu Dhabi, causing some material damage and the death of one civilian.
The United States Air Force is stationed at the Al Dhafra base, south of Abu Dhabi, along with the UAE Air Force.
